FAQ

Do you accept any type of electronics?
We do accept almost any type of electronics. Basically the requirements are plastic and metal devices that have circuit boards. (Please see our accepted items page).

Is there a fee involved for recycling?
As of January 1st, 2010, it is the law that home users can not be charged a fee to recycle home electronics.  Charges may still apply for extra services if requested such as data wiping or a pick-up if you require us to pick up items at your home. Due to this new law, the are some restrictions on the types of items that we will accept from home users.
Do you buy computers?
There is a possibility that your item may have some type of residual value. In most cases, the item must be 100% functional and less than 2 years old.

Do you wipe our information?
We do not offer that in our basic recycling program to keep the service going for free. If you do need data destruction, we can provide that service for only $8.00 per hard drive. Please let us know at the time of drop off.

What happens to the items that are recycled?
In almost all cases we try to reuse the items. In most cases, a computer that may be inadequate for one person may be fine for another person that cannot afford new technology. The item may be refurbished to be sold or donated.

What happens to items that cannot be reused?
At that point we would disassemble the item to attempt to use parts that can be used to repair another item. In some cases items may be too old or beyond the point to be reused. The disassembling process would continue until the items are broken down into their core components. That item is then processed to a basic material such as plastic, glass, metal, and such then sold to a company that will use those materials to build a new product.

Do you offer pick-up service?
Pick-up service is offered however in most cases it is only used by businesses that have many items to recycle as there is a charge. Most home users or small businesses drop off items directly at our warehouse to avoid the fee that varies by distance.

Do you accept computers from private parties or just corporations?
We do accept items from private individuals as well as corporations. Most home users simply bring them to the recycling center directly during our designated collection times. Please see ‘Our Hours’ page.
